New Power minister vows to partner with stakeholders in sector
Newly-appointed Minister of State for Power, Abubakar Aliyu said he is ready to collaborate with all stakeholders in the sector to make an impact in the lives of all Nigerians.
The Minister was speaking after he met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Minister, who was redeployed last week from the Ministry of Works and Housing by President Buhari, said he is currently being briefed by the Permanent Secretary and other heads of departments of the ministry.
He said he intends to also meet with officials of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), electricity generating companies (GenCosS) and distribution companies (DisCos).
He said: “I resumed work at the Ministry of Power yesterday as the new Minister of Power. And I have started receiving briefings yesterday from the staff of the ministry. And subsequently, I will extend it to other areas of the ministry, that is to say, the Gencos, Transmission Company, the TCN, and then the DISCOS.
“I believe you all look up to. Every Nigerian is looking up to the ministry of power to impact his life and his means of livelihood.”
On his appointment, he said he was grateful to President Buhari and he will not betray the confidence reposed in him.
The Minister said he will do his best to make Nigerians happy with regards to power supply.
“By upgrading me from Minister of State to a full-blown minister of the Federal Republic, and posting me to where everyone has a concern. So by that confidence that the President reposed in me, I will try my best with all those that are involved to ensure that we deliver and make the President happy and make every Nigerian happy inshallah.”
Abubakar Aliyu was the Minister of State, Works and Housing, until his elevation and re-deployment last week.
