NGX: Investors record N10.15bn gain as ASI appreciates by 0.03%
Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 18.64 bps amid flat market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.03% to close at 54886.04 basis points as against 0.09% loss recorded previously to close at 54886.04 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N10.15bn gain.
At the end of today’s trading session, a total of 127,744,567 shares in 2,987 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 1,586,686,912.90, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, March 20), today’s data shows 89% decline in volume, 45% decline in turnover, and 3% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 29.9 trillion.
In the aggregate, 107 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 12 gainers and 12 losers. Linkage Assurance led the gainers with 9.76% share price appreciation closing at NGN 0.45 per share, followed by Wapic Insurance (+7.89%), Champion Breweries (+4.26%) and Sterling Bank (+2.67%).
On the losing side, Ikeja Hotel came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.65% at NGN 1.03 per share, followed by Cadbury Nigeria (-5.83%), University Press (-4.76%) and International Breweries (-4.3%). United Bank for Africa recorded the highest volume of 19.6 million traded shares, followed by Transcorp Nigeria (14.4m), Fidelity Bank (12.7m) and Zenith Bank (12m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 18.64 (0.03%) points to close at 54,904.68, representing a 1-week loss of 1.47%, a 4-week gain of 1.32%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 7.13%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (+0.11%; -1.35% 1WK; +6% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (+0.01%; -1.44% 1WK; +6.42% YTD), NGX Insurance Index (+1.3%; +0.99% 1WK; +1.57% YTD), NGX Banking Index (+0.36%; -1.15% 1WK; +5.41% YTD), NGX Industrial Index (+0.11%; +0.08% 1WK; +6.37% YTD), and NGX Premium Index (+0.09%; -1.91% 1WK; +9% YTD).
