NGX: Investors record N101.29bn gain as ASI rose by 0.40% to close the week positive
Equities market ended on a positive note on Friday as NGXASI appreciated by +0.12% to close at 47,328.42 basis points as against +0.14% appreciation recorded previously. Its Year-to-Date (YTD) return currently stands at +10.80%.
Market breadth closed positive as ETRANZACT led 21 Gainers as against 17 Losers topped by CUTIX at the end of today’s session an unimproved performance when compared with previous outlook.
Market turnover closed negative as volume moved down by -25.64% as against +47.70% uptick recorded in the previous session. FCMB, TRANSCORP and UBA were the most active to boost market turnover. MTNN and GUARANTY topped market value list.

At the end of the last weekday of trading today, a total of 253,307,413 shares in 4,266 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 2,754,152,077.06, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Thursday, February 24), today’s data shows 26% decline in volume, 29% decline in turnover, and 21% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 25.5 trillion.
In the aggregate, 109 NGX equities participated in trading, ending with 21 gainers and 17 losers. E-Tranzact International led the gainers with 9.92% share price appreciation closing at NGN 2.66 per share, followed by Royal Exchange (+9.65%), RT Briscoe (+9.3%) and Niger Insurance Company (+7.69%). On the losing side, Cutix came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 8.47% at NGN 2.70 per share, followed by N.E.M. Insurance Company (-5%), Veritas Kapital Assurance (-4.35%) and Wapic Insurance (-4%). FCMB Group recorded the highest volume of 50.1 million traded shares, followed by Transcorp Nigeria (37m), United Bank for Africa (19.3m) and FBN Holdings (17.7m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 56.38 (0.12%) points to close at 47,328.42, representing a 1-week gain of 0.4%, a 4-week gain of 2.43%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 10.8%. Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Premium Index (+0.22%; +0.69% 1WK; +5.89% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (+0.16%; +0.6% 1WK; +5.51% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (+0.01%; +0.06% 1WK; +3.5% YTD), NGX Banking Index (+0.25%; +0.21% 1WK; +11.07% YTD), NGX Lotus Islamic Index (+0.17%; -0.07% 1WK; +1.12% YTD), and NGX Pension Index (+0.16%; +1.01% 1WK; +6.02% YTD).
