NGX: Investors record N107.43bn gain as ASI appreciates by 0.35%
Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator declined by 197.20bps amid flat market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.35% to close at 55,801.14 basis points as against the flat position recorded previously to close at 55,603.94 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N107.43bn gain.
At the end of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 152,742,743 shares in 3,293 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 3,572,982,800.95, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Tuesday, March 7), today’s data shows 4% decline in volume, 44% improvement in turnover, but 21% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 30.4 trillion.
In the aggregate, 112 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 18 gainers and 18 losers. Trans-Nationwide Express led the gainers with 9.88% share price appreciation closing at NGN 0.89 per share, followed by Cutix (+8.5%), FTN Cocoa Processors (+7.69%) and Sovereign Trust Insurance (+7.14%).
On the losing side, MRS Oil Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.98% at NGN 27.95 per share, followed by Associated Bus Company (-7.89%), Chams (-7.41%) and Ardova (-6.2%). Courteville Business Solutions recorded the highest volume of 34.6 million traded shares, followed by United Bank for Africa (15m), Guaranty Trust Holding (12.7m) and AXA Mansard Insurance (8.28m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) climbed 197.20 (0.35%) points to close at 55,801.14, representing a 1-week gain of 0.53%, a 4-week gain of 2.52%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 8.88%.
