NGX: Investors record N126.70bn loss as ASI declines by 0.42%
Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator declined by 232.70 bps amid negative market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.42% to close at 55490.20 basis points as against 0.12% loss recorded previously to close at 55,722.90 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N126.76bn loss.
At the end of today’s trading session on, a total of 181,187,216 shares in 3,908 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 3,405,301,495.33, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Tuesday, March 14), today’s data shows 9% decline in volume but 21% improvement in turnover. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 30.2 trillion.
In the aggregate, 105 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 11 gainers and 19 losers. Prestige Assurance Company led the gainers with 7.89% share price appreciation closing at NGN 0.41 per share, followed by Veritas Kapital Assurance (+5%), Nigerian Exchange Group (+4.87%) and Unilever Nigeria (+3.7%).
On the losing side, United Capital came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 18.75% at NGN 11.70 per share, followed by University Press (-7.5%), Glaxo Smithkline Consumer (-7.46%) and Neimeth International Pharma (-7.01%). Guaranty Trust Holding recorded the highest volume of 33.9 million traded shares, followed by Transcorp Nigeria (20.1m), Zenith Bank (18.6m) and Flour Mills Nigeria (18.5m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) shed 232.70 (-0.42%) points to close at 55,490.20, representing a 1-week loss of 0.56%, a 4-week gain of 1.8%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 8.27%.
