NGX: Investors record N17.19bn loss as ASI declines by 0.06%
Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator declined by 31.55 bps amid positive market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.06% to close at 54,892.53 basis points as against 0.02% loss recorded previously to close at 54,924.08 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N17.19bn loss.
At the end of the last weekday of trading a total of 137,560,165 shares in 2,912 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 3,873,422,900.15, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Thursday, March 23), today’s data shows 17% improvement in volume, 177% improvement in turnover, and 13% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 29.9 trillion.
In the aggregate, 102 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 13 gainers and 11 losers. NPF Microfinance Bank led the gainers with 6.94% share price appreciation closing at NGN 1.85 per share, followed by Geregu Power (+6.25%), Lasaco Assurance (+5%) and Chams (+4.17%).
On the losing side, Aiico Insurance came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 5% at NGN 0.57 per share, followed by Wapic Insurance (-4.76%), Linkage Assurance (-4.76%) and International Breweries (-2.25%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 21.5 million traded shares, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding (14.9m), Neimeth International Pharma (14m) and United Bank for Africa (12.8m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) pared 31.55 (-0.06%) points to close at 54,892.53, representing a 1-week loss of 0.04%, a 4-week loss of 0.1%, but an overall year-to-date gain of 7.11%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (-0.16%; -0.31% 1WK; +6.01% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (-0.26%; -0.16% 1WK; +6.25% YTD), NGX Oil & Gas Index (+0%; +12.73% YTD), NGX Main Board Index (-0.05%; -0.3% 1WK; +5.82% YTD), NGX Premium Index (-0.07%; +0.31% 1WK; +8.88% YTD), and NGX Consumer Goods Index (-0.21%; -0.74% 1WK; +18.21% YTD).
