NGX: Investors record N17.76bn loss as ASI declines by 0.06%
The Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator declined by 32.60 bps amid negative market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.06% to close at 54,327.30 basis points as against a 0.12% loss recorded previously to close at 54,359.90 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N17.76bn loss.
At the end of the last weekday of trading , a total of 175,660,184 shares in 3,563 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 5,329,024,411.02, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Thursday, February 9), today’s data shows 22% decline in volume, 69% improvement in turnover, and 7% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 29.6 trillion.
In the aggregate, 116 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 13 gainers and 22 losers. Conoil led the gainers with 9.95% share price appreciation closing at NGN 32.05 per share, followed by Tripple Gee & Co. (+9.6%), Geregu Power (+4.85%) and NPF Microfinance Bank (+1.12%).
On the losing side, International Energy Insurance came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.49% at NGN 1.24 per share, followed by Sovereign Trust Insurance (-9.09%), The Initiates (-8.33%) and Consolidated Hallmark Insurance (-7.35%). FBN Holdings recorded the highest volume of 30.2 million traded shares, followed by Nigerian Breweries (28.1m), Guaranty Trust Holding (12.1m) and Royal Exchange (8.44m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) pared 32.60 (-0.06%) points to close at 54,327.30, representing a 1-week gain of 0.21%, a 4-week gain of 3.46%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 6%.
