NGX: Investors record N19.09bn loss as ASI declines by 0.06%
Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator declined by 35.04 bps amid negative market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.06% to close at 54,189.31 basis points as against a 0.78% gain recorded previously to close at 54,224.35 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N19.09bn loss.
At the end of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 129,174,108 shares in 2,949 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 3,077,141,814.62, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, February 20), today’s data shows 16% decline in volume, 44% decline in turnover, and 5% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 29.5 trillion.
In the aggregate, 113 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 10 gainers and 15 losers. MRS Oil Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 25.30 per share, followed by Tripple Gee & Co. (+9.63%), LivingTrust Mortgage Bank (+5.16%) and Aiico Insurance (+1.69%).
On the losing side, Veritas Kapital Assurance came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 4.76% at NGN 0.20 per share, followed by Linkage Assurance (-4.44%), International Breweries (-4.26%) and Transcorp Nigeria (-4.03%). Guaranty Trust Holding recorded the highest volume of 31.1 million traded shares, followed by Zenith Bank (15m), Access Holdings (11.1m) and United Bank for Africa (7.19m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) pared 35.04 (-0.06%) points to close at 54,189.31, representing a 1-week loss of 0.56%, a 4-week gain of 3%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 5.73%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (-0.1%; -0.39% 1WK; +4.31% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (-0.11%; -0.7% 1WK; +5.54% YTD), NGX Oil & Gas Index (+0.28%; +1.06% 1WK; +18.17% YTD), NGX Industrial Index (-0%; -0.16% 1WK; +2.83% YTD), NGX Main Board Index (-0.06%; -0.82% 1WK; +3.45% YTD), and NGX Premium Index (-0.07%; -0.23% 1WK; +8.93% YTD).
