NGX: Investors record N19.46bn loss as ASI depreciates by 0.08%
Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator declined by 35.72bps amid negative market breadth
The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.08% to close at 44,011.22 basis points as against 0.54% gain recorded previously to close at 44,046.94 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N19.46billion loss.
At the end of today’s trading session, a total of 97,699,441 shares in 2,980 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 847,882,183.62, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Wednesday, November 16), today’s data shows 39% decline in volume, 70% decline in turnover, and 2% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 24 trillion.
In the aggregate, 109 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 13 gainers and 21 losers. Unilever Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 11.00 per share, followed by Stanbic IBTC Holdings (+9.09%), University Press (+8.93%) and Sovereign Trust Insurance (+8.33%).
On the losing side, Guinness Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.97% at NGN 60.50 per share, followed by SCOA Nigeria (-9.79%), Associated Bus Company (-8%) and United Capital (-5.83%).
Transcorp Nigeria recorded the highest volume of 10.7 million traded shares, followed by Access Holdings (8.09m), Sterling Bank (7.42m) and Guaranty Trust Holding (7m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) pared 35.72 (-0.08%) points to close at 44,011.22, representing a 1-week gain of 0.16%, a 4-week loss of 0.72%, but an overall year-to-date gain of 3.03%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (+0.02%; +1.45% 1WK; -7.84% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (-0.08%; +0.03% 1WK; -7.79% YTD), NGX Insurance Index (+0.17%; +2.79% 1WK; -21.86% YTD), NGX Main Board Index (+0.01%; +0.52% 1WK; +10.04% YTD), NGX Industrial Index (-0.09%; -0.37% 1WK; -1.59% YTD), and NGX Premium Index (-0.2%; -0.24% 1WK; +2.34% YTD).
