NGX: Investors record N206.58bn gain as ASI appreciates by 0.69%
Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 379.21 bps amid positive market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.69% to close at 55,328.42 basis points as against a 0.55% gain recorded previously to close at 54,949.21 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N206.58bn gain.
At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 149,780,851 shares in 3,186 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 1,542,499,300.19, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Friday, February 24), today’s data shows 26% improvement in volume, 38% decline in turnover, but 13% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 30.1 trillion.
In the aggregate, 105 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 28 gainers and nine losers. Stanbic IBTC Holdings led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 37.95 per share, followed by Oando (+10%), C&I Leasing (+10%) and Conoil (+9.98%).
On the losing side, FTN Cocoa Processors came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 6.9% at NGN 0.27 per share, followed by UPDC (-4%), Japaul Gold and Ventures (-3.45%) and Transcorp Nigeria (-3.08%). Oando recorded the highest volume of 14.3 million traded shares, followed by Transcorp Nigeria (11.7m), Fidelity Bank (10.7m) and Chams (10.3m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) moved up 379.21 (0.69%) points to close at 55,328.42, representing a 1-week gain of 2.04%, a 4-week gain of 4.08%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 7.96%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (+0.84%; +1.8% 1WK; +6.3% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (+0.54%; +1.7% 1WK; +7.45% YTD), NGX Consumer Goods Index (+2.39%; +8.82% 1WK; +14.44% YTD), NGX Oil & Gas Index (+1.42%; +3.31% 1WK; +21.75% YTD), NGX Main Board Index (+1.1%; +3.15% 1WK; +6.78% YTD), and NGX Insurance Index (+1.07%; +0.94% 1WK; +2.69% YTD).
