NGX: Investors record N260.31bn as ASI appreciates by 0.86%

Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 477.84 bps amid positive market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.86% to close at 55,806.26 basis points as against a 0.69% gain recorded previously to close at 55,328.42 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N260.31bn gain.
At the end of today’s trading session, a total of 237,174,411 shares in 4,435 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 4,392,671,328.60, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, February 27), today’s data shows 58% improvement in volume, 185% improvement in turnover, and 39% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 30.4 trillion.
In the aggregate, 105 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 36 gainers and 10 losers. MRS Oil Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 36.85 per share, followed by Stanbic IBTC Holdings (+9.88%), C&I Leasing (+9.64%) and McNichols (+9.09%).
On the losing side, Multiverse Mining & Exploration came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 3.96 per share, followed by Computer Warehouse Group (-9.09%), Flour Mills Nigeria (-8.44%) and Chams (-7.14%). Fidelity Bank recorded the highest volume of 40 million traded shares, followed by Zenith Bank (34.2m), Oando (22.6m) and Transcorp Nigeria (17.8m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) moved up 477.84 (0.86%) points to close at 55,806.26, representing a 1-week gain of 2.98%, a 4-week gain of 4.82%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 8.89%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (+1.56%; +3.5% 1WK; +7.96% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (+0.89%; +2.71% 1WK; +8.4% YTD), NGX Banking Index (+1.68%; +4.63% 1WK; +11.8% YTD), NGX Industrial Index (+1.4%; +1.88% 1WK; +4.77% YTD), NGX Premium Index (+1.26%; +1.87% 1WK; +10.96% YTD), and NGX Pension Index (+1.25%; +3% 1WK; +9.64% YTD).
