NGX: Investors record N3.34bn loss as ASI declines by 0.01%
Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator declined by 6.14 bps amid negative market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index declined by 0.01% to close at 55,788.37 basis points as against 0.05% loss recorded previously to close at 55,794.51 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N3.34bn loss.
At the end of the first weekday of trading, a total of 179,028,155 shares in 4,296 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 2,547,044,722.32, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Friday, March 10), today’s data shows 35% decline in volume, 70% decline in turnover, but 24% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 30.4 trillion.
In the aggregate, 112 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 12 gainers and 21 losers. University Press led the gainers with 9.89% share price appreciation closing at NGN 2.00 per share, followed by Computer Warehouse Group (+7.69%), Multiverse Mining & Exploration (+5.04%) and BUA Foods (+4.21%).
On the losing side, Nigerian Exchange Group came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.72% at NGN 26.00 per share, followed by NPF Microfinance Bank (-8.47%), Courteville Business Solutions (-6.25%) and Linkage Assurance (-4.35%). Nigerian Exchange Group recorded the highest volume of 38.2 million traded shares, followed by Transcorp Nigeria (19.7m), Sterling Bank (15.9m) and Zenith Bank (14.8m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) pared 6.14 (-0.01%) points to close at 55,788.37, representing a 1-week gain of 0.33%, a 4-week gain of 2.62%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 8.85%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (-0%; +0.48% 1WK; +8.1% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (-0.61%; -0.15% 1WK; +7.77% YTD), NGX Consumer Goods Index (+1.82%; +1.7% 1WK; +19.93% YTD), NGX Main Board Index (+0.25%; +0.2% 1WK; +7.18% YTD), NGX Oil & Gas Index (+0%; -3.82% 1WK; +12.73% YTD), and NGX Industrial Index (-0.08%; +1.62% 1WK; +6.39% YTD).
