NGX: Investors record N41.60bn gain as ASI appreciates by 0.14%
Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 76.36 bps amid negative market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.14% to close at 55,605.57 basis points as against a 0.25% gain recorded previously to close at 55,529.21 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N41.60bn gain.
At the end of the first weekday of trading, a total of 123,545,108 shares in 4,076 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 2,483,705,096.00, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Friday, March 3), today’s data shows 33% decline in volume, 2% decline in turnover, but 3% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 30.3 trillion.
In the aggregate, 113 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 16 gainers and 20 losers. Julius Berger Nigeria led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 26.95 per share, followed by Unity Bank (+9.26%), International Energy Insurance (+8.33%) and Livestock Feeds (+4.67%).
On the losing side, Computer Warehouse Group came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 7.14% at NGN 0.91 per share, followed by FTN Cocoa Processors (-6.67%), Oando (-4.39%) and Courteville Business Solutions (-4.17%). Transcorp Nigeria recorded the highest volume of 11.8 million traded shares, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding (9.4m), United Bank for Africa (9.19m) and Oando (8.35m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 76.36 (0.14%) points to close at 55,605.57, representing a 1-week gain of 0.5%, a 4-week gain of 2.28%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 8.5%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (+0.13%; +0.13% 1WK; +7.58% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (-0.13%; +1.53% 1WK; +7.93% YTD), NGX Premium Index (+0.38%; +0.95% 1WK; +10.63% YTD), NGX Insurance Index (+0.11%; -0.04% 1WK; +2.64% YTD), NGX Pension Index (+0.03%; +0.16% 1WK; +8.46% YTD), and NGX Industrial Index (+0.01%; +1.33% 1WK; +4.69% YTD).
