NGX: Investors record N709.73bn gain as ASI appreciates by 2.9%
Nigerian Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 1,303.04bps amid positive market breadth
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 2.9% to close at 46,232.37 basis points as against 0.60% gain recorded previously to close at 44,662.96 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N709.73bn gain.
At the end of today’s trading session, a total of 187,906,726 shares in 3,458 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 1,842,157,422.88, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Tuesday, November 22), today’s data shows 48% improvement in volume, 52% decline in turnover, but 2% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 25.2 trillion.
In the aggregate, 106 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 28 gainers and 11 losers. Secure Electronic Technology led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 0.22 per share, followed by Dangote Cement (+9.98%), BUA Cement (+9.72%) and Cornerstone Insurance Company (+9.09%).
On the losing side, SCOA Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.3% at NGN 1.17 per share, followed by Royal Exchange (-8.97%), Eterna (-4.76%) and Cutix (-4.72%).
LivingTrust Mortgage Bank recorded the highest volume of 30.1 million traded shares, followed by Transcorp Nigeria (26.5m), Access Holdings (16.4m) and Ecobank Transnational (12.1m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) soared 1,303.04 (2.9%) points to close at 46,232.37, representing a 1-week gain of 4.96%, a 4-week gain of 3.06%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 8.23%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (+3.42%; +5.56% 1WK; -2.58% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (+3.18%; +5.29% 1WK; -2.98% YTD), NGX Industrial Index (+9.25%; +9.49% 1WK; +7.84% YTD), NGX Premium Index (+4.15%; +6.99% 1WK; +9.71% YTD), NGX Insurance Index (+3.66%; +4.4% 1WK; -18.57% YTD), and NGX Pension Index (+2.01%; +5.01% 1WK; +5.63% YTD).
