NGX: Investors record N9.34bn gain as ASI appreciates by 0.04%
Nigerian Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 17.15 bps amid negative market breadth
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.04% to close at 48,899.08 basis points as against a 1.07% gain recorded previously to close at 48,881.93 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N9.34bn gain.
At the end of the first weekday of trading, a total of 236,586,269 shares in 3,334 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 2,517,010,211.13, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Friday, December 9), today’s data shows 135% improvement in volume, 120% improvement in turnover, and 37% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 26.6 trillion.
In the aggregate, 103 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 10 gainers and 12 losers. Learn Africa led the gainers with 9.7% share price appreciation closing at NGN 1.81 per share, followed by Jaiz Bank (+9.2%), SCOA Nigeria (+8.86%) and Sunu Assurances Nigeria (+7.14%).
On the losing side, Royal Exchange came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.88% at NGN 0.73 per share, followed by Neimeth International Pharma (-8.57%), AXA Mansard Insurance (-4.52%) and UPDC (-2.17%).
Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 121 million traded shares, followed by Jaiz Bank (19m), Guaranty Trust Holding (17.2m) and FBN Holdings (12m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 17.15 (0.04%) points to close at 48,899.08, representing a 1-week gain of 1.3%, a 4-week gain of 11.6%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 14.47%.
