NGX: Investors record N92.72bn gain as ASI appreciates by 0.38%
Nigerian Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 170.23bps amid positive market breadth
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.38% to close at 44,662.96 basis points as against 1.09% gain recorded previously to close at 44,492.73 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N92.72billion gain.
At the end of the first weekday of trading, a total of 159,561,870 shares in 3,607 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 1,950,192,827.19, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Friday, November 18), today’s data shows 9% improvement in volume, 58% improvement in turnover, and 19% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 24.3 trillion.
In the aggregate, 104 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 26 gainers and eight losers. Nigerian Breweries led the gainers with 9.94% share price appreciation closing at NGN 45.35 per share, followed by N.E.M. Insurance Company (+9.87%), PZ Cussons Nigeria (+8.72%) and Cadbury Nigeria (+7.32%).
On the losing side, Japaul Gold and Ventures came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 7.14% at NGN 0.26 per share, followed by Aiico Insurance (-5.36%), AXA Mansard Insurance (-5.08%) and Nestle Nigeria (-2.06%). Transcorp Nigeria recorded the highest volume of 35.2 million traded shares, followed by Aiico Insurance (29.9m), Zenith Bank (11.5m) and FBN Holdings (9.47m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) climbed 170.23 (0.38%) points to close at 44,662.96, representing a 1-week gain of 1.93%, a 4-week gain of 0.45%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 4.56%. Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (+0.56%; +2.87% 1WK; -6.46% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (+0.28%; +1.98% 1WK; -6.36% YTD), NGX Consumer Goods Index (+1.8%; +2.73% 1WK; -4.83% YTD), NGX Banking Index (+1.25%; +5.25% 1WK; -3.43% YTD), NGX Pension Index (+1.05%; +3.92% 1WK; +2.54% YTD), and NGX Main Board Index (+0.5%; +1.46% 1WK; +11.17% YTD).
