
NGX: Investors records N145.08bn gain as ASI appreciates by 0.60%

Nigerian Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 266.37bps amid positive market breadth
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.60% to close at 44,662.96 basis points as against 0.38% gain recorded previously to close at 44,662.96 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N145.08bn gain.
At the end of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 126,564,239 shares in 3,383 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 3,851,749,728.20, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, November 21), today’s data shows 21% decline in volume, 98% improvement in turnover, but 6% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 24.5 trillion.
In the aggregate, 104 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 27 gainers and seven losers. UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 2.75 per share, followed by International Breweries (+9.41%), Sovereign Trust Insurance (+8.33%) and Fidson Healthcare (+6.99%).
On the losing side, RT Briscoe came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 0.27 per share, followed by Presco (-8.71%), Chams (-4.17%) and Sunu Assurances Nigeria (-3.45%). Zenith Bank recorded the highest volume of 13.6 million traded shares, followed by Fidelity Bank (12.2m), MTN Nigeria (12m) and Aiico Insurance (11m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) moved up 266.37 (0.6%) points to close at 44,929.33, representing a 1-week gain of 2.56%, a 4-week gain of 0.32%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 5.18%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (+0.6%; +2.65% 1WK; -5.8% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (+0.52%; +3.14% 1WK; -5.98% YTD), NGX Banking Index (+1.1%; +6.16% 1WK; -2.36% YTD), NGX Pension Index (+0.98%; +4.75% 1WK; +3.54% YTD), NGX Consumer Goods Index (+0.86%; +3.22% 1WK; -4.01% YTD), and NGX Premium Index (+0.85%; +3.71% 1WK; +5.34% YTD).
