NGX: Transcorp, Fidelity Bank , United Capital stocks boost turnover
Transcorp, Fidelity Bank and United Capital were the most active to boost turnover as equities market closed on a negative note, just as NGXASI depreciated by -0.08% to close at 47,207.27 basis points as against +0.03% appreciation recorded previously. Its Year-to-Date (YTD) return currently stands at +10.51%. SEPLAT and AIRTELAFRI topped market value list.
Market breadth closed positive as ETRANZACT led 24 Gainers as against 16 Losers topped by AFRIPRUD at the end of today’s session an unimproved performance when compared with previous outlook.
At the end of today’s trading session , a total of 230,645,883 shares in 4,377 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 3,493,196,785.67, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Tuesday, February 22), today’s data shows 45% decline in volume, 32% decline in turnover, and 27% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 25.4 trillion.
In the aggregate, 110 NGX equities participated in trading, ending with 26 gainers and 16 losers. E-Tranzact International led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 2.20 per share, followed by RT Briscoe (+9.72%), Niger Insurance Company (+9.09%) and May & Baker Nigeria (+9%). On the losing side, Africa Prudential came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 5.77% at NGN 7.35 per share, followed by Dangote Sugar Refinery (-5.28%), Chams (-4.17%) and Mutual Benefits Assurance (-3.7%). Transcorp Nigeria recorded the highest volume of 23.2 million traded shares, followed by Fidelity Bank (15.5m), United Capital (14.7m) and Regency Alliance Insurance (13.8m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) pared 39.63 (-0.08%) points to close at 47,207.27, representing a 1-week gain of 0.21%, a 4-week gain of 1.46%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 10.51%.
