A young Nigerian lady based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region has narrated her experience with her energy provider, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution, Plc over an erroneous electricity token.
The lady who resides in Emekuku street says about two months ago she erroneously bought electricity token for 600,000 as against 600.
She said she was aghast when she saw the debit, and she felt there is no way such a grave error could be reversed .
However, she cried out to her energy provider the PHED, and to her greatest surprise, the error was corrected as the company refunded 599,950 back to her account.
Narrating her experience, she said “Last two months,( Aug 21st to be precise), I rented out an apartment and I wanted to confirm that the prepaid meter was still functional.
“Since it hadn’t been in use for sometime , I intended to recharge N600 with the charge of N100 making it N600 but I typed N600 000 instead.
“I didn’t even realize it till much later when I noticed a debit of such a huge amount from my account.
“I called PHED and informed them of the incident and I was told to write an official letter stating exactly what happened and apply for a refund which I did.
“Ladies and gentlemen as I speak to you, I have received my refund”, she joyfully said.
She said our systems are not as porous as we have labeled them to be. Some people are still doing their jobs well.
She also emphasized that with the right people on the seat, the right things can be done.
She equally expressed appreciation to the PHED management including Olubukala IIevbare, Head, Corporate Communications Efe Elutabe, The Chief Financial Officer, and others for their stellar services.
