Nigeria’s Equities Market sustained bullish trends as NGXASI appreciates by 0.23%
Nigeria’s Equities market closed positive on Tuesday as the NGX-ASI increased to 97,972.33 from 97,747.27 recorded at the close of the previous trading day, indicating a YTD return of +31.02%.
Market capitalization increased by N136 billion to N59.367 trillion from N59.231 trillion recorded at the previous trading day’s close. Also, the market turnover increased to N6.421 billion from N5.336 billion.
At the end of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 333,948,810 shares in 9,187 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 6,421,298,218.15, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, November 18), today’s data shows 19% decline in volume, 20% improvement in turnover, and 2% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 59.4 trillion.
In the aggregate, 123 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 35 gainers and 24 losers. Lafarge Wapco led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 50.60 per share, followed by Unilever Nigeria (+10%), Eunisell Interlinked (+9.94%) and SCOA Nigeria (+9.94%).
On the losing side, PZ Cussons Nigeria came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.82% at NGN 22.50 per share, followed by The Initiates (-8.7%), Berger Paints (-7.71%) and Honeywell Flour Mill (-4.85%). Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 37.8 million traded shares, followed by Japaul Gold and Ventures (26.5m), Chams (23.7m) and Consolidated Hallmark Holdings (16.4m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 225.06 (0.23%) points to close at 97,972.33, representing a 1-week gain of 0.73%, a 4-week loss of 0.93%, but an overall year-to-date gain of 31.02%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (+0.22%; +0.69% 1WK; +32.15% YTD), NGX Insurance Index (+1.9%; +4.91% 1WK; +46.67% YTD), NGX Industrial Index (+0.55%; +1.04% 1WK; +28.53% YTD), NGX Premium Index (+0.54%; +1.73% 1WK; +27.91% YTD), NGX Oil & Gas Index (+0.35%; -0.2% 1WK; +133% YTD), and NGX Pension Index (+0.28%; +1.56% 1WK; +33.21% YTD).
