NLNG operations not impacted by Gbarain Ubie gas plant explosion
Africa’s biggest gas liquefaction and export company, the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited, has declared that its operations are not affected by the explosion reported at Shell operated processing plant at Gbarain Ubie.
The Oracle Today had in its report of the Gbarain Ubie gas plant explosion mistakenly inferred that the gas processing plant and the explosion that rocked it are linked to the NLNG.
The Gbarain Ubie gas processing plant actually belongs to and is operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, a shareholder in NLNG.
In responding to the story by The Oracle Today, General Manager in charge of External Relations and Sustainable Development at NLNG Limited, Mr Andy Odeh, declared in a statement that: “NLNG is aware of reports of an explosion at a gas processing plant in an upstream facility at Gbarain Ubie, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Tuesday.
“Please note that this does not impact the gas supply to the NLNG plant or our operations.”
