The Biafra Nations League (BNL) has given the Federal Government a 14-day ultimatum to release the detained Nnamdi Kalu.
The pro Biafra group which has its operational base in Bakassi Peninsula gave the ultimatum over the weekend through its leader Princewill Chimezie Richard.
The demand for Kalu’s release is part of a four point ultimatum the BNL leader gave the Federal Government.
The BNL leader who read out the group’s demand threatened to take the laws into their hands if their demand is not met.
The BNL wants the “immediate release from detention of Mr. Nnamdi Kalu, as ordered by the court within the next fourteen days.”
“The immediate withdrawal of military troops in South East from now till fourteen days.
“The Cameroonian authority to desist from forcing and collecting proliferated taxes from the natives of Bakassi Peninsula.
“The immediate withdrawal of Cameroonian forces from the peninsular within the next fourteen days”, the BNL leader demanded.
The leader said if the situation is not contained it may force the BNL to take laws into its hands.
He warned that if the government fails to meet these demands they will shut the maritime border and confiscate any ship that flouts the ban.
“Failure to meet these demands will result in the shutting down oil exploration between Nigeria and Cameroon at the maritime borders.
“We shall also place a ban on vessels from entering our operational base to ensure that we stop the illicit exploration of oil in the region.
“Any vessel that contests this ban shall be intercepted and confiscated”, the BNL leader said.
