Nsirimo Amaise Eze-Elect advises youths to shun hard drugs, prioritize self development
From Boniface Okoro, Umuahia
Eze-elect of Nsirimo Amaise Autonomous Community, Dr. Charles Chukwuemeka Amanze, has advised youths to shun consumption of hard drugs but should rather prioritize their personal development which he described as roadmap to success.
“Prioritize self-care, develop emotional intelligence, and set SMART goals. This will help you to unlock your potential,” said Dr. Amanze, the Ohazurume Amadioha 1 of Nsirimo.
Dr. Amanze gave the advice while addressing the youths and people of Nsirimo during a one-day End-of-the-Year Youth Capacity Building Seminar with the theme: “Personal Development and Self-improvement,” organized by Eze Amadioha Nsirimo Foundation, held at the Umunnelu Nsirimo Ugochinyerenwa Palace of the Eze-elect, on Monday, December 30, 2024.
He said the training was in line with the agenda of the Dr. Alex Otti led-administration to make youths of the state agents of development as what they learnt would help in unlocking potentials deposited in them.
He said that striving for their personal development and self-improvement would not only help them to achieve their goals in life but would enable them to contribute positively to development of society.
He explained that he organized the seminar through his Foundation as part of his contribution to human capital development and to assist youths in his Nsirimo community, Umuahia South local government area and Abia State in general to channel their energies to positive engagements and productive ventures.
Charging them to stay away from harmful habits inimical to their health and future, he told the youths to “disengage from hard drugs and substances that are harmful to the body,” which he noted, destroy the brain and render the consumer useless. And make them unable to set or pursue their goals.
The Royal High Prince maintained that to achieve personal development and self-improvement, the youths need to set daily goals which would help them to measure their successes and failures in terms of meeting their targets and life-long goals.
“Personal growth is a lifelong journey. By incorporating goal-setting, emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and positive habits, we unlock our potential,” he said.
To succeed in the journey of self-discovery and transformation, Dr Amanze emphasized that setting SMART Goals was necessary because in today’s “rapidly changing world, personal development is no longer a luxury, but a necessity; and “unlocking our full potentials” would bring about living “a life of purpose and fulfillment.”
“We, as youths, being the biggest assets of our locality because of the important roles we play in the development and economic growth of our society, must acquire the Power of Goal-Setting.
“Setting SMART goals is the foundation of personal growth. By making our objectives Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART), we create a roadmap for success. When you set the SMART goals, you have to break down large goals into smaller, manageable tasks, and regularly review and adjust them to stay on track.
“You will also need to manage your Emotional Intelligence which is the Key to Effective Relationships. Emotional intelligence is the bridge between self-awareness and effective relationships. Recognize your emotions, values, and motivations. Practice empathy, active listening, and effective communication to foster deeper connections.
“Imbibing spiritual insights through Mindfulness and Meditation is also necessary for the purpose of finding Inner Peace. Mindfulness and meditation are powerful tools for stress reduction and focus. Practice mindfulness in daily activities, and dedicate time for regular meditation. Cultivate gratitude, positivity, and self-compassion.
“To conquer, you need to build Positive Habits which will enhance your ability to
Challenge negative thought patterns, and create routines for learning, creativity, and self-care. You should Celebrate small victories, and find accountability through mentorship or partnerships.
“For progression, you will need to institute Practical Applications for Personal Growth.
Develop a personalized growth plan, prioritize self-care, and schedule regular self-reflection. Embrace life-long learning, and strive for excellence,” he challenged the youths urging them to “embark on this transformative journey, cultivating self-awareness, resilience, and fulfillment.”.
He urged the wealthy in the society to invest in building of capacity of youths to enable them to give their best to mankind, describing well trained youths as invaluable assets.
Giving a Vote of Thanks, wife of the Eze-elect, Roseline Ihuoma Amanze, thanked all who graced the training, saying that it was a tip of the iceberg of the good packages her husband has for improving the welfare and well-being of his people.
Scintillating performances by two rising reggae music stars, Rocky Star and CWave, enlivened the event.
