Obi won 19 states, FCT, as Labour Party backs claim with INEC’s IReV portal display
Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 election, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has provided evidence to back claims that the party won in 19 stated of the federation, in addition to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as against the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), along with the Labour Party (LP) has since instituted suits at the Presidential Elections Tribunal (PET) in Abuja challenging results of the polls.
INEC had declared the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner and president-elect, last Wednesday.
According to INEC, after collation of the total figures from the 36 states and the FCT, the APC candidate polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat fellow contenders – Atiku Abubakar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 6,984,520 votes, Labour Party’s Peter Obi had 6,101,533 votes to come third and candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso with 1,496,687 votes.
In the overall tally of states won, INEC said APC won majority of votes in 12 states, PDP -12 states, while the LP clinched 11 states, aside the FCT, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) won 1 state.
The 12 states won by Tinubu include; Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Benue, Rivers, Borno, Zamfara, Jigawa, Ondo, Kogi and Niger State.
Atiku of the PDP won Taraba, Osun, Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Kaduna, Sokoto, Yobe, Bayelsa, Kebbi, Bauchi, Gombe and Katsina.
LP’s Obi won the following states; Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Abia, Delta, Edo, FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, Lagos and Cross River.
However, reacting to the recent upload of recent to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), Datti Baba-Ahmed claimed that the LP won in 19 states, as well as in the FCT going by the data obtained from the portal, as against the results announced by the electoral umpire, last Wednesday, from the National Collation Centre in Abuja.
According to Datti Baba-Ahmed, results obtained from the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) show that Obi won the February 25 presidential election in 19 states plus the FCT.
Baba-Ahmed, who stated this in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle, Monday, also claimed results for PDP’s Atiku won in eight states; APC’s Tinubu in seven states, while NNPP’s Rabiu Kwankwaso won in two states.

Corroborating, the LP governorship candidate in the March 11 election, Mr Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, also posting via his verified Twitter handle (@GRVLAGOFans), Monday, said:
“BREAKING: From the results collated from IREV Portal, from the Polling Units to the Wards to the States, shows that Peter Obi won the 2023 Presidential Election.
LP: 19 States + FCT
PDP: 8 States
APC: 7 States
NNPP: 2 States”
It would also be recalled that results uploaded to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal have differed from what was announced at the collation centre in Abuja, for the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
In the Obio-Akpor LGA, Rivers State polls, INEC officially announced that the APC won with 80,239 votes beating off the challenge of the Labour Party which polled 3,829.
However, from the IREV-Portal displayed later, it was discovered to the reverse with LP winning with LP – 70,186 votes and the APC – 12,547 for the same local government area I Rivers State.
