Ogah calls for increased security surveillance in Isuikwuato/ Umunneochi
From Bonifac Okoro, Umuahia

The member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Chief Amobi Ogah, has urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently direct the service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commandant-General, to set up a joint patrol with increased surveilance within the flashpoints of kidnapping, banditary and assassination attacks within his constituency.
Chief Ogah made the appeal through a motion titled: “The Need to Curb Incessant Attacks by Kidnappers, Assassins, Bandits and Other Criminal Elements in Isuikwuato/Umunneochi,” which he raised during plenary at floor of the House of Representatives on Thursday.
The federal lawmaker who disclosed that the incessant attacks within communities in the affected areas have forced many residents to flee their homes, abandoning farm lands and other means of production and livelihood, maintained that users of Enugu/Port Harcourt expressway through lokpanta, Ihube-Isuochi road, Uturu-Okigwe road, ABSU junction – Akara road, Uturu-Afikpo, Umuaku-Umunze roads and others were being exposed to serious security risk on a daily basis.
He also called for investigation of alleged reports of the use of the regional cattle market at Lokpanta on the Enugu/Port Harcourt expressway as hideout by criminal elements to the detriment of the peaceful and law-abiding settlers and traders of the market.
After his motion, the House adopted the prayers of Chief Ogah and constituted an ad-hoc committee that was given four legislative weeks to look into the issues and come up with recommendations on tackling them.
