Ogah launches mega empowerment for constituents
…Says “If I don’t bless you, God will curse me

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Amobi Ogah, on Saturday, October16, 2024, unveiled a mega empowerment for his constituents to mark his one year in the Green Chamber, representing the people of Isuikwuato/Umenneochi Federal Constituency.
The federal lawmaker, during the empowerment held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Onuaku Primary School, Uturu in Isuikwuato local government area of Abia State, gave out cars, tricycles, mini-buses, mini-pickups, Yamaha motorbikes and Lady motorcycles.
Other empowerment items received by the overjoyed beneficiaries are grinding machines, sewing machines, washing machines, generators, hair dryers/washers, mowing machines, water pumping machines, hundreds of bags of rice and fertilizers, among others, valued at about N400 million.
“This initiative aims to boost businesses, support families, and cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal on residents and my supporters within the constituency and across Abia State,” Hon. Amobi said, noting that as the beneficiaries would be using the empowerment tools to eke out a living, they would, in the process, create more jobs for others.
“This empowerment is to help you to establish your businesses. As you become employed, you will create job opportunities for others. God has been kind to me. If I don’t use this opportunity to bless you, God will curse me,” he said.
The lawmaker who is the President of All Parliamentarians in Africa, promised to constantly improve the lives of his constituents through quality representation and empowerment opportunities.
Giving account of his stewardship for the past one year, Hon. Amobi told the cheerful crowd that he was sponsoring two bills, among others, one, for the creation of Equity State; and another, for the creation of a new local government area that would be known as Uturu/Chieze Local Government.
He expressed happiness that his first Motion in the Green Chamber yielded the desired dividend as peace has returned to the constituency.
“Over the past 15 months and in keeping to my promise to bring home the dividends of democracy to our people, I have been able to empower my people with ground breaking developmental projects among which are the restoration of security of lives and property. “This was achieved when I moved my first motion on the need to stop the incessant killing and kidnapping in our constituency which culminated in the setting up of a committee to investigate the situation. The committee, in collaboration with the state government, made a recommendation for the setting up of Operation Crush. Today our people are heaving a sign of relief,” he said.
On provision of infrastructure, Hon. Amobi said the Ukwunwangwu Daily Market has been completed with solar-powered electricity; opening an access road to Ulonna North Farm Settlement for easy evacuation of farm produce, provided solar-powered boreholes in the five zones of the constituency, namely Uturu, Isuikwuato, Isuochi, Umuchieze, Nneato to ease the burden associated with lack of water in the constituency.
“We are also making serious efforts to light up every part of our constituency with solar-powered streetlights. It is also in the same vein that we light up the premises of ABSU International secondary School to ensure a conducive learning environment for students.
We are also including the ABSU environment and other parts of the constituency,” he said.
In the health sector, Hon. Amobi who is the Chairman of House Committee on HIV-AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, disclosed that his Committee was pushing for free treatment of malaria in all government hospitals throughout the country.
He also reported that the abandoned Isuikwuato General Hospital has been renovated and upgraded with solar-powered electricity to supply 24 hours light in the hospital, adding that supply of medical equipment would follow soon.
“We have also secured approval for the conversion of the abandoned Achara General Hospital to become an annex of the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.
“We are also in process of completing mother and child hospital in Mbalano, as well as the construction of an ultra-modern hospital in Lokpanta for our constituents in Umunneochi local government,” the lawmaker said..
Agriculture has equally received attention as he reported that he secured and distributed super gene palm seedlings to farmers in the constituency.
“In education sector, the lawmaker said he awarded 22 all-expenses paid scholarship to youths studying in various institutions and Abia State College of Health Aba, in addition to another six all- expenses paid scholarships being sponsored by his Foundation; while
construction of six class rooms in Nneato and Onuaku Uturu, Isuikwuato were ongoing, among other achievement in the education sector.
Hon. Amobi assured that he would not relent in serving his people diligently because he won his mandate on the mantra of service delivery.
“The history of prosperity, the template of service delivery and service to humanity and mankind are the yard sticks through which I won my mandate, to provide service to the teaming people of Isuikwuato Umunneochi and Abia State in general.
I’m trying to provide a credible leadership and be a beckon of hope and service delivery to my constituents,” he said.
Addressing the gathering, the member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency, Hon. Lucky Nweke Johnson, said “we have never seen this level of empowerment,” expressing hope that Hon. Amobi would do more in the years ahead.
Also, National Chairman of Labour Party, Barr. Julis Abure, represented by the Southeast Vice Chairman of the party, Pastor Ceekay Igara, praised Hon. Amobi for representing the party and his constituents well. “He has shown his resolve to leave his constituents and constituency better than he met it,” Abure noted.
A beneficiary, Lady Nneoma Grace Ibeh, an entrepreneuer who received a mini-pick-up, prayedthat as “Hon. Amobi has lifted me up, God will lift him higher.”
Among other dignitaries who graced event were Hon. Kelechi Akaliro, member representing Umuahia North State Constituency, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon Ikechukwu Uwanna and Mayor of Isuikwuato LGA, Hon. Chinedu Ekeke
