A civil society group has enjoined Abians to give the Dr. Alex Otti-led government in the state their maximum cooperation and support, saying that the administration has demonstrated that it came prepared to really develop the state.
The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the apex socio-political youth group in the South East geo-political zone, made the call after an on-the-spot assessment of the completed Ohafia Local Government Area electricity restoration project, hailing the dynamism and proactive poise of the Deputy, Governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, due to his role in ensuring the realization of the project.
COSEYL said Emetu took it upon himself to ensure that power was restored to Ohafia people in order to boost the industrialization drive of the Governor Alex Otti administration, in fulfillment of his campaign promise.
Ohafia, the headquarters of Ohafia Local Government Area was plunged into darkness by hoodlums who vandalised critical electrical equipment in the area and has remained in darkness since the unfortunate incident about seven years ago, until the coming of Emetu, a son of the soil, who vowed on assumption of office as Abia Deputy Governor, to restore Ohafia electricity.
With the restoration of power to Ohafia, COSEYL said it was impressed and gave thumbs up to the Abia State government for its impressive efforts that led to the restoration of power supply to Ohafia.
“The quick intervention of the State government through the instrumentality of a dynamic Governor, Dr Alex Otti, and his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, confirms that they are truly a good team that will drive home the Abia of our dream,” the group said in a statemet made available to The Oracle Today newspapers.
“This is the first time Abians are blessed with a team that understands the yearnings and aspirations of those who elected them. Abia is truly blessed,” the group said in the statement jointly signed by its President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Okey Nwaoru.
“Engr. Emetu has proved beyond every reasonable doubt that he is truly a bona fide son of Ohafia. We commend him and his boss for a job well done.
The statement reads in part: “Ohafia which has for a long time being in darkness can now beat their cheat and say, we are truly in God’s Own State because anywhere God is, there must be light because God represents light.
“Abians are now happy to have elected these men of goodwill who came fully prepared to serve their interests.
“We therefore call on Ohafia people and Abians to fully support the administration of Governor Alex Otti and his Deputy, Engr Emetu, who came prepared to take Abia to an enviable height.”
