Okeorji Abia mourns Dr Dr Anagha Ezeikpe
Members of Abia State egalitarian group, Ndi Okeorji Abia, have expressed deep sense of loss over the death of the state’s Chairman of Elders’ Council, Ezeogo Dr Anagha Ezeikpe.
The group which has geared up to participate in the state funeral for Late Dr Ezeikpe beginning today described that late surgeon and political leader as a role model, mentor and elder.
In a message signed by some of its members on behalf of the group, Okeorji Abia expressed its condolences to the family of the late statesman, the Ancient Abiriba Kingdom and people of Abia State.
In the statement, Okeorji Abia declared the passing of Dr Ezeikpe as collective loss to all well meaning indigenes of the state, pointing out that the late elderly statesman was not just an eminent traditional ruler but also the Chairman of Abia State Advisory Council.
The group stated that late Dr Anagha Ezeikpe was in the last brigade of Igbo socio-cultural and political stalwarts who rose to represent Igbos in most challenging periods of Nigeria’s history.
Okeorji Abia also recalled that late Dr Anagha Ezeikpe was bold, brave, honest, selfless and committed leader who joined in demanding and securing the creation of Abia State.
“In his professional calling, Ezeogo Dr Anagha Ezeikpe was a medical luminary and distinguished surgeon. In politics, he was the cornerstone of the SouthEast elites and the Deputy Governorship candidate of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) during the Second Republic. He was also a prominent member of Ohaneze Nd’Igbo.
“As mentees of the medical, social and political prodigy who was until his departure the Chairman of Abia State Council of Elders; we stand firmly to hold the true values for which Dr Anagha Ezeikpe will remain immortal,” the group declared.
