One personnel, patient, two gunmen killed, as hoodlums attack Ebonyi NDLEA office

Police in Ebonyi have confirmed the killing four persons, as during an attack by gunmen on the Ebonyi Head Office of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) located at Ntezi Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.
Police said, out of the four killed, two were the gunmen many of them sustained bullet injuries, one was the NDLEA personnel and a patient undergoing rehabilitation at the Agency’s rehabilitation center.
The attack took place on Tuesday by 2pm.
The attackers came through the back perimeter fence of the facility, to launch the attack, but officials of the Agency alongside soldiers and police operatives who were quickly drafted to the scene successfully repelled them.
Police spokesperson, Loveth Odah confirmed the incident.
She said security agencies killed two of the gunmen while others escaped with injuries, adding that two riffles and ammunitions were recovered from the attackers amongst other items.
She said a combined team of security agents were still combing the bushes around the area in search of the injured escaped gunmen.
“Unfortunately, one of the officers and a patient undergoing rehabilitation at the Agency’s rehabilitation center was also killed”, she said.
Some of the items recovered include: 140 rounds of K2 ammunition, 36 rounds of GPMG live ammunition, 30 rounds of AKk 47 rounds of ammunition, a 4 Runner jeep, motorcycles, military and police uniforms, charms, and others.
The agency lost two officers on February 20,2022, when they were attacked along the Abakaliki-Enugu highway.
