‘One Ward, One Project:’ Ikpeazu directs Abia councillors to submit projects for execution

Abia governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed the 184 councillors in the state to submit within 14 days, one vital project in their wards for execution.
The projects would be executed under the Governor’s One Ward, One Project Initiative due to commence soon.
Ikpeazu announced the plans to commence the execution of one project in every political ward of the state during a meeting with the Executive Chairmen and Councillors at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, Thursday evening.
At the meeting, the Governor directed Councillors of each ward to articulate and submit, through their respective Leaders of Council, one project dear to the hearts of the people of his ward.
According to Ikpeazu, the Council Leaders should liaise with their Executive Chairmen to reach his office with the list of their selected projects not later than two weeks for immediate action.
He charged the Council Chairmen to work in synergy with their Deputies and Councillors to bring about greater development in their areas.
The Governor further enjoined the Council leaders to take the issue of security seriously by holding monthly security meetings involving traditional rulers, heads of security agencies in their domains and select stakeholders.
The Governor also urged them to sensitize and mobilize their people to participate actively in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration exercise.
Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Chris Ezem, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Professor ACB Agbazuere, the State Chairman of PDP, Rt. Hon. Asiforo Okere, were among top government functionaries present at the meeting.
