Osimhen included, as NFF submits 28-man squad list for AFCON 2021

Nigeria has submitted a 28-man squad list to CAF ahead of next month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Cameroun.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which made public the provisional squad list, Saturday, Spanish la Liga side, Huesca’s Kelechi Nwakalu, German Bundesliga Union Berlin’s Taiwo Awoniyi, Spanish club, Almeria striker Sadiq Umar and in-form English Premier League club, Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis all make the list.

There was also the surprise inclusion of Serie A’s Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, who was earlier in October ruled out of footb all action following an a predicted three-month lay-off. However, the striker has since begun field training but has not been named in Napoli matchday squad this month.
Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi have also been called-up.
The Super Eagles are in Group D with Egypt, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan at the 2021 AFCON.
