Ott committed to developing Asa land – ASOPADEC GM

General Manager of Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission ( ASOPADEC) Venerable Dr.Joshua Onyeike, say regular release of funds due to the interventionist agency by Governor Alex Otti was a practical demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to the overall development of Ukwaland.

Venerable Onyeike stated this when he received leadership of Asa Development Union when they visited him in his office in Umuahia.

The ASOPADEC boss informed his guests that the Commission has been able to make great impacts because of the love and care of the Governor has for Asa people which he has  demonstrated through regular release of funds due to the Commission.

 Venerable Onyeike further told the Asa leaders that the Commission has released fund for the reconstruction of Obehie/Asa High School road in Ukwa West Local Government Area, adding that plans were afoot to  replace the vandalized electric transformer and cables in the area 

He promised his visitors that the Commission under his watch, would make use available resources to ensure development of the areas and beyond.

The ASOPADEC General Manager, while commending Asa people for their support and loyalty to the State Governor and himself, equally urged them to sustain their support and promised them of more developmental projects in Asaland.

Earlier, the Acting President-General of Asa Development Union, Mr Godson Ihenko, had said that they came to identify with Venerable Onyike for increasing the rate of development since he was appointed the ASOPADEC GM and lauded Governor Otti for choosing Onyeike to head the Commission.

Mr. Ihenko listed some of the achievements of Onyeike to include the reconstruction of Umuokomiri Obehie road, on-going construction of Asa Civic Centre, registration of Asa students for the 2024 WAEC and JAMB examinations, construction of water boreholes  at various locations in Asaland and expressed satisfaction with the wave of developmental projects going on across the State, courtesy of the State Governor, Dr Alex Otti.

Also speaking, the Secretary General of the Union, Sir Boniface Nwaigwe, said the on-going construction work at the Asa Civic Hall, the traditional meeting place of Asa people, which was abandoned many years ago by NDDC, was a welcome development.

Nwaigwe thanked the General Manager of ASOPDEC for his support and encouragement to the Union and requested him to sustain it.

In a vote of thanks, a woman leader, Mrs Ngozi Ogidi, commended the General Manager for his sterling performance and assured of the sustained support of the people.

According to a statement by Information Officers of ASOPADEC, Iyke Onuegbu and Chonwe Anunobi, the group used the opportunity of the visit, witnessed by the management staff of the Commission, to offer special prayers for the State Governor and the General Manager.
