The Abia State Government has announced the appointment of a new Head of Service (HOS) for the state’s Civil Service. She is Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Queen Obioma.
This was made public by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof Kenneth Kalu, in a statement issued on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
The SSG said that “Governor Alex Otti has approved the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Queen Obioma, as the new Head of Service,” which takes effect from Friday, December 1, 2023.
Otti had shortly on assumption of office, sacked all but two Permanent Secretaries in the state’s Civil Service and appointed Lady Joy Maduka, who was then said to be of the rank of a Deputy Director, to act as the Head of Service.
She was sworn in as Permanent Secretary along with 22 others who were recently appointed and sworn in by Governor Otti.
The SSG expressed the Governor’s appreciation to the former acting Head of Service, Lady Maduka, now posted to the Ministry of Environment, for her contributions and wished her well on her new posting.
