Otti to flag-off construction of Abia’s Medical Village, as govt. explains focus on health
From Boniface Okoro, Umuahia
Plans are underway to flag-off the construction the Abia Medical Village project soon, the state government has said.
A signature project of the Dr. Alex Otti-led administration, the Medical Village project is designed to make a medical tourist haven.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu stated this while briefing the press on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
Kanu said that the project, when fully realized, would equally make Abia a destination point for all medical cases within Nigeria and Sub- Saharan Africa.
“Abia Medical Village is a signature project of the state government. It is a project that is designed to enhance medical tourism; a project that would direct tourism to the state in terms of medical services.
“A situation whereby rather than go outside the country to go and seek medical attention, Abia citizens , Nigerians and, indeed, Africans would want to come to Abia state on medical tourism once that project is completed,” Prince Kanu said.
He noted that there is a whole lot of attention in the health sector in Abia state because governance is about the people and “health, they say, is wealth” Prince Kanu noted.
Governor Otti has always assured that the Medical Village would boast of every modern medical facility when it comes on stream.
