Otti urges aides to disregard opposition, focus on good governance
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has charged the newly sworn-in Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Mike Akpara and the Special Adviser on Trade, Commerce and Industry, Chief Nwaka Inem, to shun the opposition in the state but focus on effective governance to be able to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
The Governor gave the advice while swearing in the duo at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Umuahia on Tuesday. He urged them to contribute their best to ensure the success of the present administration.
Otti said that his administration is one built on the confidence and high expectations of Abia people and advised the newly sworn-in appointees to focus on delivering dividends of democracy to the people without constraints.
The Governor explained that his administration accorded high priority to health, Education and environment sectors which informed his prompt actions since assumption of office by declaring a state of emergency in these sectors, including waste management.
He expressed confidence that the new appointees would surpass public expectations given their experience and pedigree and congratulated them on their appointment.
Responding on behalf of his colleague, the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Mike Akpara, while thanking Governor Otti for finding them fit to serve in his administration, said they understand the policy thrust of government and assured that they would n deviate from it.
