Pastor rapes, impregnates 12yr-old female church member
Police in Ogun have arrested a pastor for allegedly raping and impregnating a 12-year-old female member of his church in the state.
48-year-old Pastor Michael Abiodun is said to be Minister in charge of The Light House Gospel Church, Oluwo, Owode-Egba, in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun.
Abiodun now in the custody of the police blamed the devil for the act.
He was arrested on allegation of defiling and impregnating a minor, whose mother is a member of the same church.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident, Friday, said the pastor’s arrest followed the information received at Owode Egba Divisional Police headquarters.
The victim’s mother had reportedly joined the church after battling a spiritual problem that allegedly led to the death of two of her other daughters.
In order to prevent the victim from going the way of her sisters, she had run to the church to seek deliverance.
“One fateful day, the Pastor, a father of three, had asked the victim’s mother to send her to him for special prayers.
“But on getting there, the pastor took her into a room within the church premises and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her, which resulted in pregnancy,” Oyeyemi said.
Receiving the information, the DPO of Owode-Egba Division, CSP Olasunkanmi Popoola, deployed his men to the church where the said pastor was arrested.
“On interrogation, he confessed to the commission of the crime, but blamed it on the devil.
“He further confessed being the person who deflowered the victim, who was a JSS 2 student,” it was said.
Oyeyemi quoted the mother of the victim as saying that she did not know her daughter was pregnant until seven months after, saying her daughter had not been menstruating before.
The girl had since been delivered of a baby, some three months ago.
The victim reportedly told the police that she was threatened by the pastor if she divulged what transpired between them to anyone.
This, it was gathered, was the reason the girl did not inform her mother.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the case to be transferred to the State CIID for further investigation and prosecution.
