Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has extended the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the Anambra state governorship election from the earlier stated date of Wednesday, March 31, 2021 to Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
This is also as the party, in a statement by its National Organizing Secretary, Col Austin Akobundu (rtd), Wednesday, informed that the date for the submission of the forms has correspondingly been extended to Saturday , April 10, this year.
“All aspirants, leaders of our party, critical stakeholders as well as our teeming supporters in Anambra are to take note and guided accordingly,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, has denied reports that it suspended some leaders from Niger state.
“The national leadership cautions those behind the claims to desist from such, particularly, in misguiding some party officials to attempt to assume situations that are beyond their statutory powers.
“For emphasis, the powers and functions of all organs of our party at all levels are as clearly spelt out in our constitution and should be strictly adhered to.
“The provisions of our party’s constitution is very clear about suspension of the members of National Executive Committee (NEC) and as such, we caution those indulging themselves in such lawless activities to desist henceforth,” the committee said in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, Wednesday.
The NWC of the party also appealed for calm s it urged ‘all our leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our great party in Niger state to remain united and continue to work together and resist attempts by enemies of our party to distract us from the task ahead.’
