PDP wins Delta House of Assembly by-election for Isoko South
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the Delta State House of Assembly by-election for the Isoko South Constituency I, conducted last Saturday.
The by-election held across the five wards which make up the constituency.
The by-election was conducted to fill the seat left vacant following the death of the member representing the constituency at the state House of Assembly, Mr. Kenneth Ogba.
Announcing the election result, the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Christopher Onosemuode, said the candidate of the PDP, Mr. Ovuakpoye Evivie, polled 6,907 votes, while his closest rival, the aspirant from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo polled 1,301 votes.
According to the INEC Returning Officer, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr. Emumena Micheal garnered 1,291 votes.
The INEC officer, Onosemuode subsequently declared Evivie winner and returned elected.
