PenCom kicks off online verification, enrollment for 2021 treasury-funded MDAs, as NAICOM goes live
National Pension Commission (PenCom) says it has concluded plans to commence online verification and enrollment for its 2021 retirees and prospective retirees of Federal Government treasury-funded Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
Head, Corporate Communications of PenCom, Mr Peter Aghahowa, in a statement, disclosed that the commission had developed an online application automating the annual pre-retirement verification and enrollment for all its retirees.
Aghahowa who said that the application would take effect from September 1, said those eligible for the exercise are employees of Federal Government treasury-funded MDAs who retired between January and August.
He said other employees who were due to retire from September and those who missed the enrolment exercise in previous years would also be included.
Aghahowa listed the two options for the enrollment exercise to include; self-assisted through pension desk officers or Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs)-assisted.
He also said that the affected retirees must complete their verification and enrollment with their respective PFAs on or before October 29.
Meanwhile, the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) will fully operationalise its activities on the web from Wednesday, September 1, 2021.
This is contained in a circular, signed by its Director, Policy & Regulations, Leonard Akah, for the Commissioner for Insurance, Sunday Thomas, dated August 27, 2021 and entitled; adjustment of NAICOM operations and sent to all Managing Directors/ Chief Executive Officers of all insurance institutions.
The commission noted that the import of the adjustment was that effective from September 1, 2021, its operations will transmit from manual to online processing and all operational activities or issues concerning insurance institutions that requires the commission’s attention, comment and approval will be submitted and processed via NAICOM Licensing System.
It added that “consequently, all insurance institutions are required to align their operations to NAICOM Portal for submission and processing of all requests such as certificate of registration/renewal; approval -In-Principle (AIP); product authorization; micro insurance; takaful insurance; letter of request; financial statement approval; enforcement action; governance and complaints issues amongst others.”
The Commission also disclosed that from today, there shall be no more manual submission of requests/application, expect online through designated portal.
