PG hails Okaiuga women for restoring peace in community

President-General of Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Improvement Union (ONIU), Sir Uzomba Ekwuribe, has commended the Women Wing of the Union for using the platform to enthrone enduring peace, unity and development in Okaiuga Nkwoegwu, Ohuhu in Umuahia North local Government Area of Abia State.
Sir Ekwuribe, a former Secretary of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ ),Abia State Council, said the women achieved the feat during through the instrumentality of their 2023 August Conference,
The Community leader noted that for peace to envelop Abia communities, other women in the state should emulate the Women of his community.
He made this clarion call in an address he presented during the grand finale of the 2023 Peace and Unity August Conference of Okaiuga women.
Uzomba said he was impressed by the untiring efforts of the leadership and membership of Okaiuga women led by Mrs. Iheanyichi Ngwanma Nwagboso, the National Chairperson of the group.
Uzomba, a prominent poultry farmer in Umuahia, praised Mrs. Nwagboso, for blazing the trail and setting the pace for other Women Associations in Ohuhu, Umuahia and Abia State to follow. He also commended His Royal Majesty, Eze Nzenwata Mbakwe, for introducing the August Conference in Okaiuga in 1990 during his tenure as President-General of the then Okaiuga Federal Union.
Continuing, Sir Uzomba Ekwuribe lauded the untiring efforts of Okaiuga sons and daughters, the branches, the four autonomous communities and the cream of Abians who graced the occasion to support Okaiuga Women to achieve their objective of ensuring peace, unity and development in Okaiuga Nkwoegwu.
Speaking at the well-attended conference, his Royal Highnesses: Eze Nzenwata Mbakwe, Eze Bobby Aguocha, Eze Ugochukwu Akabuike; and former President-General: His Honor Festus Adiele and High Chief Ezekiel Nwosu, among others, described the performance of Okaiuga Women’s Wing as scintillating and assured them of their unflinching support and solidarity.
Also in his remarks, the co-Chairmen, Mr Emeka Ajaero, represented by Mr. Chika Okeiyi and Chief Onyemaechi Onuoha, assured the women of their support and resolve to aid them achieve their noble objectives and goals.
In her welcome address, the Okaiuga Women leader, Mrs. Nwagboso, appreciated the leadership and membership of Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Improvement Union, home and abroad, for their support and solidarity while assuring them of the resolve of the women, under her leadership, to change the ugly narrative of indiscipline, divisions and factionalization that afflicted the Women’s Wing.
The four day event witnessed the unveiling of seed of faith, basket of blessings, drama, match past, eggs race, fashion parade, dances, prayer sessions and proclamations among other events.
