Police confirm attack on Imo community, as gunmen burn elderly woman alive, raze houses
Imo Police Command has confirmed the violent attack in the state involving gunmen who went on rampage in the Amagu Ihube community of Okigwe Local Government Area in the state, Tuesday night.
According to the Public Relations Officer for the State Command, ASP Henry Okoye, the police has already launched an investigation into the incident, adding that no arrest had yet been made.
It would be recalled that armed men Tuesday night, went on rampage in the community, setting ablaze an elderly woman during the attack.
The elderly woman was living inside the country home of a retired Director of the Department of Security Service (DSS), Emeka Ngwu, which was razed by the gunmen.
The gunmen who burnt the country homes of the Imo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Emeka Okoronkwo, and a one-time commissioner for Information, Youth and Sport/Land and Urban Development, Nnamdi Obiaraeri, who was also a former Dean, Faculty of Law, at the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri.
