Police confirm fire outbreak at Lagos Blue Rail station in Marina
Police Command in Lagos has confirmed a fire outbreak at a section of the multi-billion Naira Blue Rail Mass Transit project at Marina.
Last Tuesday, a fire incident was reported at the station in Outer Marina but details did not emerge as to the extent of the damage on the property, which is still partly under construction across the state.
The affected section is said to house a generating plant used at the facility by the Chinese construction firm, was affected by the fire on Tuesday.
However, no life was lost and no one was injured, as the fire was quickly put out by firefighters from both the Federal and State fire stations before it could spread to other sections.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, however, stated that the fire ‘is under control.’
“The fire at Marina started from the generator of the Blue Rail Mass Transit. Police patrol teams and the Fire Service are already on ground to control the crowd and put out the fire respectively.
“People are urged to go about their lawful duties and not panic as the situation is under control,” the statement read.
