Police smash child trafficking, sale, kidnapping syndicate

Rivers Police Command has announced smashing operations of a child-trafficking syndicate operating in the state, as well as, neighbouring states.

The Command’s Spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, who disclosed this, Friday, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, said four suspects have arrested in connection with the crime.

According to Iringe-Koko, the suspects include; three females and one male, said be involved in the kidnap, sale, and purchase of children within Rivers, Imo, and Delta states where the syndicate is believed to operate.

“Some of the suspects admitted to buying or selling the kids, with one of them saying she paid N1.5m for three children,” the police said.

Two children have been rescued while the police are still searching for one child believed to have been sold to a buyer in Asaba, Delta State.

The police spokesperson stated that efforts are still on ‘to track down other suspected members of in the syndicate.’
