Policewoman kidnapped, as gunmen burn Imo Divisional HQ, free detainees
Gunmen have set ablaze the Isiala Mbano divisional police headquarters in Imo State, abducting a policewoman who was on duty at the station, in the process, as well as, freeing an unspecified number of detainees at the facility.
The incident which occurred, Thursday, also indicates the attackers were armed with explosives.
Eyewitnesses say the invaders attacked the police division around 7pm.
Sources in the community revealed that the attackers opened fire upon arrival before setting the division ablaze.
Also, the police officers on duty were said to have fled in the heat of the attack.
Unconfirmed reports also claim the abduction of the President General of Luwe Nneri Autonomous community, Chima Anwuru by the gunmen.
Anwuru was said to operate a pharmacy shop at Isinweke in the Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area of Imo state.
