Presbyterian Prelate pledges support for rice millers’ group

Prelate and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, His Eminence Nzie Nsi Eke has pledged the support of the church to the National Rice Producers, Processors, Millers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (NARPPMMAN).


The PCN leader disclosed this in Calabar while playing host to the national leadership of the association led by its president, Alhaji Mustafa Ahmadu (Sarkin Noma Adamawa).
He said the mission that brought NARPPMMAN is what they have been looking for and thy will intervene in the area of trust particularly as it concerns revolving loans to rice farmers.
The Prelate said, “the mission that brought you here is what we have been looking for and we are all interested in Nigeria.
“It is only when you have already eaten that you can listen to somebody talk to you.
“When the missionaries came and planted Presbyterian Church in Nigeria, they came with agriculture, hospital and school.
“These are some of the things that will make somebody, somebody in life.
“The church will come in, in the area of trust to put the spirit of trust in somebody so that when you collect loans, you will fulfill so that others can benefit”, he said.
He prayed for the success of NARPPMMAN and encouraged them to keep doing good for the benefit of the country and humanity.
Earlier, the national president of NARPPMMAN, Alhaji Mustafa Ahmadu (Sarkin Noma Adamawa) said they are committed to improving the lot of rice farmers in Nigeria.
The National President, spoke through the National Vice President North Central, Ishaku Samaila Jilemsam.
Ishaku said, “Our mission here is simple, we want to join you in what you are doing for humanity.
“As you work towards the spiritual wellbeing of your people, we want to work towards the physical well being.
“Our mission is to make people have food to eat and also money in their pockets.
“Let’s work together as a people, if some people have made up their minds to destroy the country, at least there should be people who will make up their minds to build the country.
“We are here to work together with our brothers and sisters to build this country and we are ready to work together across all divides”, he said.
He sought the intervention of the prelate in the area of revolving loans to farmers because that is their major challenge.
According to him, “One of the critical challenges has not been the money to give them, it is in returning the money that is where the problem has been.
“People will take money given to support them and not return it back so that the money will keep revolving.
“If they decide not to give money, they take the material things and sell it, we don’t know what to do, however we are determined to succeed”, he said.
