The Chairman of Chrisnak Group of Companies, Dr (Prince) Christian Odinaka Igwe, was Saturday night crown Investor of the Year, 2020 by leading media group in the country, The Sun newspaper.
Dr Igwe stood tall amongst several other private businessmen who defied the prevailing funding crunch associated with the coronavirus pandemic to sink significant investments across the full business loop in the country, the organizers pointed out.
He was also among the youngest entrepreneurs among over 20 corporate stalwarts and public sector heroes who were called to honour at the event which pulled the biggest personalities in the country as awardees, guests and speakers.
The award recognized a streak of off-curve investments laid out by Dr Igwe and the innovative business models with which he drives them through rapid gestation to commerciality.
“I didn’t see this award coming by any means. It was a big surprise,” Dr Igwe told our correspondent, adding that the recognition has made him conscious of public expectation from him and his companies in being exemplary corporate citizens.
He promised to continue delivering commercial dividends to all stakeholders in the operations of the enterprises, and also making contributions towards economic development of country through empowerment programmes especially in the areas where his companies operate.
Friends, associates, service providers and clients poured in felicitations and goodwill messages ahead and after the award which held at Eko Hotels, Lagos State.
Other notable personalities that received awards alongside Dr Igwe include the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mallam Mele Kyari; Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike; and the Chairman of AirPeace Airlines, Mr Allen Onyema.
Other notable awardees are Chairman of Seplat Energy Plc, Dr BC Orijakor; Chairman of Marcopolo Group, Chief Emmanuel Frank Okafor; and a host of state governors and sundry political office holders.
In his congratulatory message, the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, described Dr Igwe as “our illustrious son and successful entrepreneur,” as he expressed joy at the recognition.

His investments cut across agriculture, oil and gas, manufacturing, trading, marketing and others.
With the cluster of emergent, well conceived and viable ventures; Dr Igwe engages thousands of young Nigerian youths in productive employment, business mentorship and venture incubation; and thus grooms next generation of entrepreneurs that would continue to spur growth in the nation’s domestic economy.
Through his companies’ social corporate responsibility programmes and his foundation’s charitable interventions, Dr Igwe has proved to be a practical Christian businessman, philanthropist and compassionate social crusader. He has lifted many families from dire straits and rewrote the fate and fortune of many young Nigerians.
Currently the Executive Chairman of the Chrisnak Group and Managing Director of Mainland Oil and Gas Limited, Dr Igwe sits on the board of several companies and holds significant interests in non operated business ventures.
The award from The Sun Publishing Company Limited is yet another feather in his crowded crown of honour. He has gained recognitions and awards from highly credible institutions including universities, churches, media houses and chambers of commerce of the Nigerian organized private sector (OPS).
Married to the Managing Director of Peace Pharmacy and Supermarkets, Princess Peace Igwe, his family is blessed with five children.
