Radio Station, VOP 90.3 FM Lagos offers scholarship to 500 Nigerians

A radio station, Voice of the people (VOP), 90.3 FM Lagos in partnership with Lagos Aviation and Maritime Business Academy, has offered scholarship to 500 Nigeria.
The scholarship is to train the recipients on health, safety and environment security, project management, logistics, cargo handling, ticketing and reservation, air hostess, export management, freight forwarding, ship chattering and brokerage.
Speaking while announcing the scholarship, the rector of the institution, Dr Emeka Udowu said that the gesture is his own way of contributing to the man power development of the country.
He said that the training is for three months, adding that to qualify, candidates must have five O’level credits including English language and mathematics.
According to him, the school was founded in the year 2000 and is recognized by the federal ministry of education, national board for technical education and also listed in JAMB.
In his contribution, the Dean of VOP Business School, Peter Anosike said that the scholarship is in line with the VOP Business School’s philosophy of making Nigeria a skilled country.
According to him, they are already discussing with some financial institutions that would assist the recipients with soft loans to start their own individual businesses after their training.
Speaking further, Anosike said that the scholarship would be an annual event.
“There is no denying the obvious fact that our economy is in tatters and the main reason is because we are more of an academic rather than a skilled country and in order to change the narrative, VOP Business school in partnership with other relevant organizations and agencies decided to embark on massive skill/vocational training. We don’t just want to train and leave them to roam the streets, rather we also want to empower them with the entrepreneurial knowledge and finance to start and run their own businesses successfully.”
Also contributing, the coordinator of VOP Business School, Judeh Ikami Judeh said that the scholarship is just one of the packages that the radio station has for its listeners in particular and Nigerians in general.
He said that very soon, they would be releasing the other packages.According to him, already the VOP Business school has over 1,500 registered members and that the list is increasing on a daily basis.
