Reps Deputy minority leader, three other PDP members lose primaries in Enugu

Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu, representing Oji River/Awgu/Aninri, and PDP Deputy Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, has lost his return ticket in the primary election held in Enugu on Sunday.
He lost the ticket to one Mr Anayo Onwuegbu.
Also, Hon. Pat Asadu representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, and Hon Dennis Amadi representing Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency lost their return tickets.
Pat Asadu, a medical doctor, lost amidst opposition to his fifth term bid, especially from the people of Nsukka Local Government Area.
Also, Amadi lost to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Chief of Staff, Hon. Festus Uzor, while Pat Asadu lost to a former chairman of the PDP, Engr. Vitta Abba.
But Hon. Cornelus Nnaji representing Enugu-East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency; and Hon. Offor Chukwuegbo, representing Enugu-North/Enugu-South Federal Constituency; Hon. Martin Oke, Igbo-of Etiti/Uzo- Uwani Federal constituency and Hon. Simeon Atigwe, Igbo-Eze North/Udenu all won their return tickets.
The controversy that greeted the exercise was not unconnected to unresolved dispute between Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Senator Ike Ekweremadu over delegates.
Checks revealed that there were fracas and shootings in some areas following the disagreement over delegates lists used for the conduct of the primary elections.
Efforts to reach the lawmakers failed, but it was gathered, they have rejected the outcome of the primary election.
