Reps member, Ekpenyong from Akwa Ibom dies
Members of the Federal House of Representatives representing Oron Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Nse Ekpenyong, has died.
Hon. Ekpenyong reportedly died on Saturday, April 23, at the age of 58.
His demise was confirmed by the chairman of Mbo Local Government Area, Asuqwo Eyo.
According to Asuqwo Eyo, the lawmaker was not ill prior to his death.
Ekpenyong who was a former member of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, also served as deputy chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
He would have completed his second term as lawmaker by May 2023.
Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, is expected to declare the seat occupied by the late Reps member vacant soon.
This will be followed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducting a by-election for the Oron Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom to fill the seat at the National Assembly.
