Sen. Jarigbe expresses gratitude as C’River govt honors Wayas with state funeral

The Senator representing Cross River North, in the national assembly Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has thanked the Cross River State government for honoring Dr. Joseph Wayas with a state funeral.
Senator Jarigbe made this known in his tribute during a Valedictory Session in honour of the departed former Senate President.
Senator Jarigbe said it’s important to honour the memories of past leaders considering their contributions to national development.
In a heart-felt tribute, Senator Jarigbe said: “Dr. Wayas’ remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s democracy and development can not be quantified. He is a Statesman in his own class.
“Dr. Wayas, a respected politician and former President of the Senate, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to the Nation.
“The Senate’s Valedictory Session is a befitting tribute to his memory and a celebration of his achievements as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Wayas commitment to the well-being of Nigerians and his tireless efforts to promote peace, stability and progress in the country are well noted.
“The tribute paid by Nigerians reflect the high esteem in which Wayas is held by his colleagues, constituents and the nation at large.
“I appreciate the Cross River state government for honoring the icon with a State Funeral.
“As the Senate pays its last respect to Wayas, Nigerians are reminded of the importance of honouring the memories of their leaders and celebrating their contributions to the nation’s growth and development.
“May the soul of Senator Joseph Wayas, rest in peace,” he stated.
Dr. Wayas died on November 30 2021 in a London Hospital and is scheduled to be buried in his hometown of Sankwala, in Obanliku Local Government of Cross River State on the 30th of November, 2024.
